• Do I need a credit card to start? No. The free-forever plan does not require a credit card. You do need a Google account to sign in.
• Do I need a Google account, and what do you use with Google? Yes. Invoice Otter uses your Google account for sign-in, and if you use work order scheduling it connects to Google Calendar so you can create schedule events and sync the scheduled date and time back to your quote.
• What is included in the free plan? Unlimited invoices and quotes with up to 3 clients. Emmitt, your personal AI assistant, is not included on free.
• Do you support inventory tracking, vendors, and purchase orders? Yes. Invoice Otter includes inventory tracking on saved items/services plus vendor management and purchase order workflows in the app.
• What counts as a client? A client is a customer record in your account. On free, you can keep up to 3 client records active in Invoice Otter.
• What happens when I reach 3 clients on the free plan? You can keep using your existing data, but you will need to upgrade to Pro if you want to add more than 3 clients.
• What can Emmitt do? On paid, Emmitt, your personal AI assistant, can help import existing clients, invoices, expenses, and related business data, then speed up daily admin by drafting invoice and quote details, helping organize records, sending quotes and invoices, assisting with bookkeeping workflows, and more.
• Can I buy more AI usage? Yes. Pro includes $10/month of usage with Emmitt, your personal AI assistant, and that is enough for most businesses. If you need more, email hello@invoiceotter.com and we can set up custom pricing based on your usage.
• Can I use Invoice Otter without Emmitt? Yes. The free plan works without Emmitt, and the core invoicing, quoting, payments, and bookkeeping tools still work without him.
• Is switching to Invoice Otter hard? No. Emmitt, your personal AI assistant, helps migrate your data into Invoice Otter quickly so you can keep billing without manual re-entry.
• Does Invoice Otter work on any device? Yes. The web app works on any modern device and browser today. The Android app is available now, and the iOS app is coming soon.
• What do I pay for Invoice Otter? If you upgrade, the paid plan is $10/month and includes Emmitt, your personal AI assistant, plus unlimited clients. Standard Stripe fees apply for online payments, if connected.
• Do you charge any fees besides Stripe? No extra Invoice Otter transaction fees are added on top of your plan price. If you accept online payments, standard Stripe processing fees still apply.
• How do Stripe fees work? In Settings, you choose if Stripe fees are passed to your customer or taken out of what you receive.
• Do I have to use Stripe? No. Stripe is optional and the app still works without it. Stripe is only required if you want online payments.
• Can my customers pay online from their invoice? Yes. If Stripe is connected, customers can pay online through supported invoice payment workflows.
• Do quotes turn into invoices? Yes. Approved quotes can be converted into invoices so you do not have to rebuild the job from scratch.
• Can I schedule work orders? Yes. Once a quote is accepted, you can release a work order, open it in Google Calendar, and Invoice Otter will show the scheduled date and time back on the quote.
• Can I add photos and PDFs to jobs or invoices? Yes. Before-and-after job photos and PDF uploads are included in both plans.
• How fast are payouts? With Stripe Connect instant payouts enabled, funds can arrive in minutes.
• Can I downgrade from Pro to Free without losing data? Yes. If you leave Pro, you still keep your data and can continue on the free plan within its limits.
• Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Cancel anytime from account settings. If you cancel a paid plan you can still access all your data from the free plan. We never trap your data, you own it and are free to leave with it at anytime!
